I have been privileged to spend my 24-year professional career investing in branded consumer companies.
I started at Fidelity Investments where I was responsible for analyzing public companies in the Retail and Footwear sectors. I went on to spend 16 years in the San Francisco Bay Area with Rosewood Capital (and its successor firm, Glenbrook), where I had a front row seat in the development of a number of amazing brands. Today, at Castanea, I split my time between identifying new investment opportunities and working with our portfolio companies. I am currently working with Simms Fishing Products, West Coast Fitness, and Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams.
I joined Castanea in 2015, returning to Boston where I spent the first 26 years of my life. I would love to say I made the move because I missed snowy winters and rooting for Boston sports teams out loud. But the real reason is that Castanea felt like a unique place. I love that we chase passion, both in our founder partners and in their customers. We also strive for alignment with our teams; ensuring that it exists prior to investing and that it is prioritized throughout the entire relationship.
I received an MBA from Stanford and my undergrad degree from Harvard, where I was fortunate enough to be a member of the 1989 National Championship hockey team. I live in the Boston area with my two young daughters and wife, who overcame their California and Miami roots (respectively) to fall in love with Boston.
