Meeting founders and hearing the stories of how they conceptualized and built their brands is the best part of my job.

While no two brand stories are the same, I’m always amazed by the creativity and grit of the entrepreneurs we meet. A key focus area for me is direct-to-consumer, where I spend time evaluating investment opportunities and working with portfolio companies to develop and support strategic initiatives. It’s exciting to be involved with brands that have direct connections to loyal customers.

I joined Castanea in 2011 for the opportunity to specialize in branded consumer investing alongside an operationally oriented team. I began my career in management consulting at L.E.K. and then spent five years at AEA Investors, a private equity firm based in New York that invests across multiple sectors.

Within the Castanea portfolio, I currently work with MacKenzie-Childs (Aurora Brands) and The Bruery. While these brands may seem very different from each other on the surface, they both offer impeccably crafted products and have wildly passionate customers (and incidentally one can be poured into the other, which I highly recommend!).

I received a BA in economics and political science from the University of Pennsylvania. My wife and I are both native New Englanders, and these days we spend most of our time having fun and making a mess with our two young children and dog.


The Bruery is a producer of premium specialty craft beers. The company specializes in barrel-aged and sour beers, and creates complex flavors from simple ingredients.
