Steve is a Partner at Castanea Partners with 10 years of private equity and strategic consulting experience in consumer products and retail brands.

Steve joined Castanea Partners in 2002 from Bain Capital, a leading private equity firm with over $3.5 billion under management in its leveraged buyout funds. While at Bain Capital, Steve worked on a variety of new investments in addition to having significant operational involvement with Bain Capital portfolio companies. His experience at Bain Capital included transactions and operational involvement with Domino’s Pizza, Sealy Mattress, totes-Isotoner, Wesley-Jessen, Mattress Discounters, Bentley’s Luggage, and several other companies.

Prior to Bain Capital, Steve was a consultant with Bain & Company, a leading strategy consulting firm. At Bain & Company he served clients in consumer products, retail and manufacturing in both the United States and Europe.

Steve received an MBA with distinction from The Wharton School of Business, where he was a Palmer Scholar. He received a B.S. Engineering, magna cum laude, from the University of Michigan.

Steve has an active interest in philanthropy. He founded Bain Outreach, Bain & Company’s volunteer program with Habitat for Humanity; managed the Bain Capital Children’s Charity; and is a board member and Treasurer for New England Scores, an after-school soccer and creative writing program for underprivileged children in Boston.
