A Unique Perspective

We pride ourselves on our unique combination of senior executive experience and private equity capabilities. Prior to forming Castanea Partners, our founders managed public companies with over $5 billion in revenues and $6 billion in combined market capitalization. They generated significant shareholder value through growth initiatives, operational improvement, and judicious capital allocation. Prior to Castanea, they successfully completed 35 acquisitions with combined revenues of greater than $3 billion. This specialized industry knowledge and successful operating expertise substantially enhances our ability to identify with management teams and, as such, provide strategic perspectives unique to the private equity arena.

In addition to proven operating capabilities, we possess distinguished private equity and consulting expertise. We have analyzed, structured and completed numerous transactions within the middle market and lower middle markets and we have provided tactical support to management teams seeking strategic opportunities within portfolio companies. The combination of operating, private equity and consulting experience enables us to be a value-added resource to our portfolio companies while also offering unique perspectives throughout the deal process.

We partner closely with selling founders and management to identify and execute significant value creating strategies. We’ve walked in management’s shoes and understand their perspective, concerns and priorities in the context of both a transaction and operating a business. We view every founder, management team and entrepreneur with who we work as a partner. We structure our team and investment approach to allow for active engagement in each company.

Our Own Capital

Our founding partners committed a substantial amount of capital to all three Castanea funds. In addition, other Castanea professionals personally co-invest in each opportunity. Investing our own capital affords us several advantages:
